In January 1987, God gave Dr., Apostle Leroy V. Washington, Sr. a vision of a ministry where all people could come, fellowship, and learn the Word of God. He began taking the Word of God into people's homes. As the Spirit of the Lord began to draw the people, Apostle Washington saw the need for a stable place for God's people to worship freely.​

God dealt with him in a dream; being obedient to the Spirit of the Lord, he converted his garage into a place of worship. Thus being the birth of Christian Teaching Ministries. 

Apostle Washington felt that people needed to know and understand what their "Salvation" is all about; For we know that the Word of God clearly states that, "My people perish for lack of knowledge".

Christian Teaching Ministries is designed to be a teaching ministry. A place where men and women, boys and girls can realize that they can stir up the gifts that lie within them through Jesus Christ.

This ministry is a flock gathered together by God to share and spread the vision given by God to Apostle Washington. This vision certainly is no easy task. Through blood, sweat and tears, Apostle Washington has led his congregation through many battles; all of which have resulted in great victory through Jesus Christ!

Over the years, the ministry has experienced much joy. We have learned how to lean on Jesus. We have learned to pick up our cross and follow Christ! Through our trials and persecutions we have remained steadfast and unmovable by exercising our faith and trust in the Lord. We have learned how to become victorious overcomers through the love and grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is through our continual stand for Jesus Christ that he has honored our works by depositing the gift of faith into our ministry.

In October of 1997, God changed the name of our Ministry to Christians Of Faith Teaching Ministries. It was all for the making of a ministry that would move under the anointing of God!

The ministry is currently housed in Dumfries, Virginia. It is headed by Dr., Apostle Leroy Vincent Washington, Sr. and his Wife , Co-Pastor, Dr., Prophetess Lila M. Washington. Together they deposit into each person they come in contact with, the "spiritual truths" of the living Word.
